Abstract In recent years the traditional press has become available in electronic form . E-press is growing, with practically all newspapers and journals having its own on-line versions. The journalistic profession is changing as well, creating a newphenomenon - citizen journalism. Its inception and progress are clearly connected with the Internet, and mostly with on-line info portals, which are often co-created by the users. The pioneer in this field was started in 2000 Southkorean Webpage Ohmynes, its success caused, that a lot of worldwide companies wanted to have similar portals. Citizen journalism figures on writing texts by amateur journalists and placing it on the Internet in special portals dedicated to this aim. In Poland the most popular such Webpages are: Alert24.pl, Wiadomości24.pl, Interia360.pl, iThink.pl, and the recently created, initialized by weekly Wprost, Infotuba. The aim of this paper is to present citizen journalism as a phenomenon and briefly present the already existing Webpages.
