Abstract The aim of this paper is to show the concept of a knowledge economy and society in a postmodern context. According to the Author, this context emphasizes the role and significance of experts, even as some form of power - "expertocracy". At the same time, experts’ authority highlights the role and significance of knowledge and the importance of trust in the economy and society. A practical example of "expertocracy" is the increasing role of analytical research institutes - think tanks.
