Abstract The aim of the article is to present the results of the research, conducted by Author at the University of Warsaw in 2016-2017 years. There is an analysis of the functioning of democratic structures in the process of European integration, in which non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play important role. The point of departure for research has been the assumption that modern democracy cannot work well without civil participation and the involvement of non-governmental organizations, especially large international NGOs’ networks. The analysis also includes achievements of NGOs, thanks to which their position in Europe became significant. The value added by these organizations to the development of civil society and the process of European integration is also discussed in this article.
