Abstract In this article the author discusses the issues of innovativeness of enterprises functioning in the Member States of the European Union. The theoretical aspects of innovations treated as an important factor of the development of economic entities are presented in the first part of the article. In the second part selected empirical aspects of innovative behaviors of enterprises are discusses. The purpose of this publication is conducting of statistical-comparative analysis of the results of empirical research in the scope: the commonness of innovate, the level of investment in innovations and intentions in this regard. The purpose of this publication is also to verify the thesis that the commonness of the implementation of innovations in enterprises functioning in the EU Member States is variable and diverse, which indicates the dominance of the traditional understanding of the market and the lack of greater involvement of managers in the forming of innovative environment of experiences. The results of the statistical-comparative analysis confirm this thesis.
