Abstract The subject of presented research, is the analysis of socio-cultural determinants of anxiety and fear in the behavioral and the structural-functional dimensions. Their impact is exacerbated by the disinformation crisis and lack of trust, which are supported by the mass media, social media and tabloids. The presented issues are described at the microsocial level both from several perspectives: defense mechanisms, causes and effects and the objectives of impact. These factors can lead to the feelings of powerlessness, low self-esteem and even can take a form of self-destructive actions. However, at the macrosocial level, it is viewed as the result of intentional actions aimed at activating the potential of internal and external forces which determine specific changes in the area of orientation, attitudes and behaviors. The author focuses the attention on the analysis of S. Freud, M. Foucault, U, Beck and M. Castells who present the socio-cultural sphere as a socially constructed reality on the basis of individual and intersubjective cognitive schemes. They are a result of multidimensional changes and are fueled by anxiety and fear. In addition, he assumed that they are also caused by subjective and objective political factors which are related to both the internal situation and external state . "The politics of fear", includes the currently emerging new stage of European integration.
