Abstract he article analyses the impact of the development of new technologies on the activities of DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) teams in the context of a risk society. It discusses the evolution of approaches to technological risk assessment with a focus on Ulrich Beck's theory, which highlights the global and unpredictable nature of contemporary technological and social risks. The paper highlights the role of the social construction of risk and the importance of media and politics in shaping the perception of risks. In the context of mass crisis events - such as natural disasters, epidemics or terrorist attacks - the necessity of international cooperation and the use of advanced technologies (biometrics, DNA analysis, artificial intelligence) in the work of DVI teams is pointed out, thereby increasing the efficiency and accuracy of victim identification. The article also addresses the ethical and social challenges of implementing these technologies and their impact on social risk assessment and management. It concludes with a presentation of future questions for social technology assessment in the field of DVI operations.
