SMART VILLAGE AS A CHANCE FOR THE RURAL COMMUNITY – IMPLEMENTATION CONCEPTUALIZATION AND FIRST EXPERIENCES

Abstract The article verifies the need for research on the implementation of the Smart Village concept in rural areas. An analysis of articles published in Scopus was conducted, in which the key words are "smart village" and "development". The research results indicate that the relatively smaller number of publications from European countries, with the exception of Great Britain, encourages reflection on the degree of integration of the smart village concept with rural development policy in Europe, and the involvement of researchers from Canada, Italy and Poland indicates a growing interest in this topic, but the overall lower number of publications suggests a gap in comparative research on the implementation of smart technologies in rural communities in different regions. This fact indicates the need for an in-depth analysis of the factors determining these publication trends, which in the future may provide valuable information on global priorities and challenges related to technological innovations in rural development.
