Streszczenie The forming, existence and fall of the Soviet Union had a great impact upon the world geopolitical order. Lenin’s revolution eliminated the great world power situated in the middle of the world geopolitical order. Because German military power disappeared too and the USA declared its neutrality, Great Britain and France became the main guarantors of the Versailles geopolitical system. Thanks to intensive industrialization the Soviet Union became the dynamic and aggressive world power. After the coming to power of Adolf Hitler, Germany reconstructed its military power. This changed the European balance of power and led to World War II, after which a new geopolitical system formed. Germany, Japan and Italy disappeared from the world geopolitical stage. And France and England lost their influcenceduring the Suez crisis in 1956. In the geopolitical system dominated only two superpowers: the Soviet Union and the United States. The Soviet Union gained control over Central Eastern Europe and expanded its influence in other continents. A military rivalry existed between both superpowers during the Cold War. The Soviet Union lost this arms race, leading to its disintegration. After the fall of the Soviet Union the only remaining superpower in the world geopolitical system was the USA. Today EU, China, India and Brazil compete for the roles of new superpowers.
