DECISION-MAKING LEADERSHIP STYLES AND ESG EFFECTIVENESS: VALIDATION OF THE NEW SPP SCALE IN PUBLIC AND CORPORATE SECTORS

Streszczenie This article examines the relationship between the decision-making styles of Management Information Systems (MIS) managers and the perceived effective-ness of ESG implementation, measured with the new SPP (Sustainability Policy Performance) questionnaire. We combine the DPQ-SET5 instrument, grounded in the Vroom-Yetton-Jago model, with the new SPP measure to move from assessing participation levels to investigating the tangible outcomes of ESG deployment. The sample comprises 171 MIS managers from organizations implementing ESG practices (public administration: 87; private sector: 84). Statistical analyses (t-tests, Pearson correlations) confirmed that participatory styles (C2, G2) are positively associated with ESG delivery (r = 0.73; p < 0.001), whereas autocratic styles (A1, A2) show negative associations. Organization type was not a significant predictor of preferred style, suggesting the primacy of leadership culture and the use of ICT in decision processes. The article contributes by presenting and preliminarily validating the SPP scale and by empirically linking decision styles with ESG effectiveness.
